A PowerPoint presentation with bullet points alone is pretty dull going. Since PowerPoint is a visual medium, you should take full advantage of its visual potential by including images that will engage the audience in your presentation.
Inserting Graphics
The easiest way to insert graphics into a PP presentation is to select a slide format that includes a graphics link. From the Slide Format palate, select any slide format that includes a picture icon (which sometimes registers as “clip art”). When you select this format, it will include a place holder to add in graphics.
Avoid the temptation to copy and paste images into your PowerPoint presentations! Instead, you must insert the images. Here’s how:
Save the graphic you wish to insert onto your desktop.
Under the "insert" menu, click on "insert photo" then "from file" and then locate the image you wish to use.
Or, use the Insert menu to add the graphic onto the slide.
A Suggestion: When you insert an image, it will have a frame around it, which isn't always ideal. If you want to image to fill the entire slide, you need to insert the image as a background. Here's how:
1. click on "themes" and then "background."
2. Select "format background" and then "picture or texture."
3. Then "choose picture" and locate the image (from your desktop) that you wish to add.
Inserting pictures as backgrounds often looks nicer than inserting them simply as images.
